13TH DISTRICT

Category

The 13th district, like the 12th, is not considered as a tourist site but deserves to be better known.

This area is multi-faceted : in the same day and district, you can experience the French village atmosphere of La Butte aux Cailles then eat Dim Sun in the Chinese area and finally party on the mythic boat « Batofar » with entrepreneurs from the F station , the world’s biggest start-up campus .

On sunny days, François Mitterand dock becomes a huge lively riverside café.

Wanderlust and Communion on the top of La Cite de la Mode et du Design are taken over by young and hip clientele.

Are you fond of  street-art  ? The 13th district became the artists’ HQ ! Just look up and you will see amazing mural paintings on the buildings (la Joconde for instance). Paris 13 is also a place of other kinds of arts : fashion with la Cité de la Mode et du Design or independant art with Les Frigos, historic tapestries at la Manufacture des Gobelins.

Do you need to escape from the Parisian crowd and find a kind of bucolic setting ? Stroll around the Peupliers street or the Cité Florale, a peace haven. When spring comes, this location is a genuine delight with the cascading wisterias on the houses walls.

As you can read, the 13th district is full of treasure troves and the culinary part is not outdone : Asian restaurants near Porte de Choisy, French bistro at la Butte aux Cailles or more elegant restaurants near Les Gobelins.
